  11. The notion of this Paint-based solar has been under research for some time now. Researchers at the University of Buffalo announced in 2013 that they had made progress using plasmonic-enhanced materials. The team, however, noted that the thin nature of paint makes absorbing light in greater amounts, a bit difficult.
  12. The research, published in July in the Journal of American Chemical Society, could enable people to produce solar panels using a printer — or even by painting one on a wall using a special paint — all using a material that’s easier to manufacture and could prove cheaper than silicon. The latest solar-paint could be a promising alternative to silicon-based panels.
